I am very interested in reading and writing. My love of reading comes from a deep enjoyment of fantasy and sci-fi fiction, but also from an interest and love of language. Authors like J.R.R. Tolkien are utterly captivating to me with their masterful use of the English language.

In my free time I like to read, write, and play online with friends. We are big Minecraft guys. I also like to spend time outdoors i.e., hiking, camping, etc.

I grew up in Radford Virginia and lived there most of my life. While Radford isn’t exactly in the middle of nowhere – at least by my rural standards – I still feel a deep connection to the mountains and to rural life. My dad’s side of the family grew up even deeper into the mountains in Hillsville Virginia and that side of the family maintains a piece of family property in the area. It used to be a farm but has since fallen into disrepair and is just a great expanse of woods. Growing up with access to this environment instilled in me a love for nature.

Ethan and I met in pre-school when we were both around 6 years old. We were instant friends and remained close throughout elementary school and middle-school. We always shared a love for reading and in middle-school, we even worked together on a book of our own. After a brief hiatus towards the end of high school, we are still as good of friends as ever and still love to read.

I am currently attending the University of Virginia, pursuing a degree in history which I hope to one day take on to law school. After an attention span ruined by short form content, I am trying to get back into reading in a big way, and I have a lot to say about it. With the school year coming soon to a close, I am excited to put a lot of time into reading, and into this blog. 

For the foreseeable future I’ll be writing mostly about Tolkien and his works. This is my current hyper obsession and it will not be ending anytime soon. You can look for my first post on a lesser known work by Tolkien called Mythopoeia in the next week or so! Other than that I’ll have a one off post every now and then of any topics in literature or related topics that I am thinking about at the time!
